Notes  A few
old records incorrectly show East Liberty Township instead of just
East Liberty.  East Liberty is now in the city of Green,
which incorporated Green Township.  Green Township was part
      of
Stark County before Summit County
      was formed in 1840.

    Notes  Elizabeth
was
previously
known
as
Elizabethtown,
specifically referring to the town center of the Elizabethtown
      purchase.  Around the 17-18
th Centuries it was
      part of
Essex County.  See also

History   The Elizabethtown
purchase was settled about the late 1660's by members of the
Elizabethtown Associates who bought the land from the
Indians.  The second generation was admitted to Elizabethtown
Associates in 1699.  The purchase was surveyed 1736-37 and
the lots were distributed by drawing.  The Elizabethtown
purchase was much larger than modern Elizabeth, with some
historical records suggesting the Elizabethtown purchase
originally corresponded roughly to what is now Union County.
